Velma Pauline Gray, 101, of Gilman, Ill., formerly of Onarga, Ill., passed away at 8:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at Gilman Health Care. Mrs. Gray had a four-year illness from a fall in which she broke her hip. Her funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, April 30, 2016 at the Life Church in Gilman with Rev. James Harkins officiating. Burial will be in the Onarga Cemetery, Onarga. Visitation was held from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Saturday, April 30, 2016 at the Life Church in Gilman. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.

Velma was born on January 21, 1915 in Olden, Howell County, Mo., to Lewis and Mary Ollie (Caffy) Fine. Her childhood was spent in Missouri and she attended school at Rudville, Mo. She married Charles E. Gray on November 15, 1933 in West Plains, Mo. He died on December 24, 1977.

Surviving children are Jack (Carolyn) Gray of Hutsonville, Ill., Donald (Donna) Gray of Milford, Ill., Paul (Joan) Gray of Chebanse, Ill., Larry "Wayne" (Sandra) Gray of Clifton, Ill., Roy (Rita) Gray and Randall (Diana) Gray all of Gilman, Sheryl (William) Scheets of Mesa, Ariz., and Charlene (Michael) McCallister of Paradise Valley, Ariz.

Daughter-in-law Naomi Gray of Robinson, Ill.; 28 grandchildren and 75 great-grandchildren. A sister, Jeannie Wilson of West Plains, Mo.; three nieces Patricia, Priscilla and Evelyn and many cousins.

Velma was preceded in death by her husband, daughter and son-in-law, Norma and Tommy Eugene Copas, a son Robert, two granddaughters Becky Copas and Rebecca Gray, great-grandson Evan Wallace, four siblings Tom Fine, Wallace Rice, Frances Winkler and May Peterson.

Velma was a member of the Pilgrim Holiness Church in Onarga, Ill. She was a homemaker and also had worked at Littelfuse in Watseka for 12 years. She retired at the age of 73. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and quilting.
