Hazel Grooms

Hazel Marie (Clark) Grooms was born the daughter of Lee Clark and Laura (Dunkin) Clark on January 1, 1924, in Couch, Mo., and departed this life on April 11, 2016, in West Plains, Mo., at the age of 92 years.

She was united in marriage on March 26, 1947, at Alton, Mo., to Harding Grooms. They enjoyed 63 years of marriage. She is survived by her daughter, Velma Parrott of Alton; two sons, Eddie Grooms and wife, Cathy of Glendive, Mont., and Tom Grooms and wife, Betty of Alton; seven grandchildren, Randall Parrott and wife, Christy, Erin Grooms, Rodney Parrott and wife, Jamie, Jeff Grooms and wife, Charity, Kari Bowers and husband, Tim, Kristi Wade and husband, Richard, and Kevin Grooms and wife, LaShanda; thirteen great grandchildren, Cody, Samson, Alexis, Orin, Katie, Autumn, Jarvis, Colton, Ava, Caeden, Tucker, Avery and Jake; two great great grandchildren, Elaina and Abbigail; three sisters, Ann Busby, Mary Story and Kay Stewart; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one infant son; brothers, Bill, John, Ongle, George, and Jessie Ray; and sisters, Elzada, Ethel and Louise. She was of the Free Will Baptist faith, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and will truly be missed by her family, her friends, and the community in which she lived.

Funeral Services will be Thursday, April 14, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, Mo., with Brother James Ray and Brother Johnny Floyd Holesapple officiating. The family will receive friends at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer on Wednesday evening, April 13, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Norman Cemetery and may be left at the funeral home in Thayer.

Burial will be in the Norman Cemetery, near Alton, with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc.
