Funeral services for Darrell Eugene Smith, 45, West Plains, Mo., will be at 11 a.m. Monday, July 20, 2015, at the Harbor of Hope Church in West Plains with Brother Dwight Collins officiating under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, West Plains. There will also be a family visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 19, 2015, at Carter Funeral Home Chapel, West Plains.
He was born the son of the late George E. Smith and Wanda Edmonds Smith on June 28, 1970, in Kansas City, Kan., and died July 16, 2015, in West Plains, Mo.
He was united in marriage July 7, 2007, in Creighton, Mo., to Darla Nelson.
He is survived by his wife, Darla Nelson Smith, of the home, West Plains, Mo.; two daughters, Darra Ann Smith, Topeka, Kan., and Tanna Marie Smith, Topeka, Kans.; three brothers, George L. Smith and wife, Janet, Olathe, Kan., David Smith and wife, Caitlin, West Plains, Mo., and Marty Mayfield and wife, April, West Plains, Mo.; four sisters, Marla Humble, Olathe, Kan., Pat Archambeau and husband, Kenny, Olathe, Kan., Monna Newman, Olathe, Kan., and Dawn Cotter and husband, Jody, Mtn. Home, Ark.; two uncles, Erman Edmonds and Paul Edmonds, both of West Plains, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Darrell was a very hard worker and took pride in his work. He did concrete work by profession and also loved to build and remake furniture. He loved being outdoors, whether it was working or on the river fishing. He enjoyed God's nature and all it had to offer. He attended church at Harbor of Hope in West Plains. He was a loving man and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Harbor of Hope Church, West Plains, and can be left at Carter Funeral Home, West Plains.
Burial will be in Pleasant Mound Cemetery, Douglas County, Mo., under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc., West Plains.
