Graveside services for Thomas Ova Mooney, 65, West Plains, Mo., will be Saturday, May 14, 2016, at New Salem Cemetery, Oregon County, Missousri with Reverend Anthony Woods and Brother Art Hobbs officiating, under the direction of Carter Funeral Home Inc., West Plains.
He was born the son of the late Ova Mooney and Mabel Hester Collins Mooney, on January 7, 1951 in West Plains. and died May 5, 2016 in St. Louis, Mo.
He was united in marriage May 27, 1994 in Salem, Arkansas to Joyce Ann Sisco, who preceded him in death.
He is survived by two sisters, Carolyn Deckard, St. Charles, Mo. and Mary Frances Burkhart and husband Kermit, Thayer, Mo.; one step-son, Brian Bettis, West Plains, Mo.; two nephews, Tim Deckard and wife Candy, St. Charles, Mo. and Patrick Harrell and wife Debbie, West Plains.; one niece, Tamara Deckard, O’Fallon, Mo.; fourteen great nieces and nephews, and two grandsons, Tommy and Cole Bettis, West Plains.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, and one sister, Judith Ann Martin.
Tom served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Midway Aircraft carrier during the Vietnam War.

Memorial contributions may be made to the New Salem Cemetery, Oregon County, Mo. and can be left at Carter Funeral Home, Inc., West Plains.
Family visitation will be held at Carter Funeral Home Chapel, West Plains from 12 noon to 2:00 p.m. Immediately following the visitation, we will be driving in procession to New Salem Cemetery for the service and burial with military rites.
