Carolyn (Roberts) Boone - 1940-2015

Posted

Carolyn Boone of Springfield, Mo., passed peacefully from this life on Aug. 16, 2015, surrounded by family.

Carol was born Nov. 26, 1940, in Willow Springs, Mo. She graduated from Willow Springs High School and shortly thereafter she met her future husband when the car she was driving became stuck in a ditch and he was the tow truck driver that came to the rescue. Ken Boone and Carol were married Sept. 18, 1960. They were together for 55 years and were blessed with four children.

Carol was the quintessential “mother hen” and delighted in taking care of her family and being the boss. She was and will always be the rock of our family. She prided herself on being “hip” and tech-savvy by sharing texts and photos every day with us, enjoying FaceTime video chats when family was away, and “counting her chicks” by watching the shared family map on her iPad to make sure all of her kids and grandkids made it home from work every day.  Carol always kept a watch over her loved ones, and was the first one to call on a birthday morning to sing the happy birthday song.

Carol is survived by her husband, Ken Boone; sons, Jim Boone (Terry), Rob Boone (Jennifer) and David Boone; daughter, Kristi Grill (Pete); granddaughters, Jamie Romine (Jeramie) and Kenzie Boone; brother, Clifford “Sonny” Roberts; sister, Judy Stolba (Gary); and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Helen Roberts; father, Clifford Roberts; grandson, Matthew Boone; sister-in-law, Beverly Roberts; and niece, Susan Zorsch.  A small graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, at Dry Creek Cemetery in Willow Springs, Mo.

Services are under the direction of Willow Funeral Home, Willow Springs.
