Celebrating John David Hayes

John David Hayes was born June 25, 1972, in West Plains Mo., the son of Douglas Hayes and Pamela Harris.

He graduated from West Plains High School in West Plains, Mo., in 1990. He moved to Flagstaff, Ariz., in 1996. 

John met Jolene Elser when they both were working at Purina in Flagstaff. They were married in Las Vegas, Nev., in November 2008. John died in Arizona on Aug. 9, 2015. At the time of his death he was employed at Machine Solutions, Inc. in Flagstaff.

John loved four-wheeling in his Jeep, Star Wars movies and zombie flicks. He also like going to car show and museums, especially Mopar vehicles. He loved reading, especially classic novels and anything related to history.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jolene; his mother, Pamela, and stepfather, Joe, of West Plains, Mo.; one sister, Jolynn Abney, a nephew, Jordan Abney, and niece, Rebecca Abney, all of Springfield, Mo. He is also survived by his in-laws, John and Maxine Elser of Lake Park, Iowa; one sister-in-law, Julie (Clayton) Brehmer, Phoenix, Ariz.; four brothers-in-law, Mike (Sue) Elser, Elkhorn, Neb., Doug (Karen) Elser, Maple Grove, Minn., Paul (Carrie) Elser, Cedar Falls, Iowa, and Jon (Amy) Elser, Sibley, Iowa; along with 11 nieces and nephews and his constant companions, Pandora and Elivra.

Preceding him in death are his father, Doug Hayes; his paternal grandparents, Maude and Pershing Hayes; and his maternal grandparents, Abe and Rosalie Weaver. 

John was much loved and will be greatly missed.
