”Cowboy" Rick Hamby and his dedicated crew are gearing up for another historical stagecoach journey. On Friday, the team gathered at the West Plains Daily Quill office, where they were met by Missouri State 155th District Rep. Travis Smith who presented
a proclamation to Hamby and his crew. Issued by the Missouri House of Representatives, the decree honors the group's cultural contributions through its unique pen pal letter delivery service. This year's excursion, titled "Dust in the Wind," takes a historic turn along the Smoky Hill Trail, straddling the borders of Kansas and Colorado with several planned stops for delivery of pen pal letters and locations of historical importance. Alongside student letters, the stagecoach will carry messages from the West Plains Senior Center to residents of various nursing homes. The Journey Stagecoach crew will hit the old dusty trail on May 17.
