Maikayla Willis, 21, Poplar Bluff, was ticketed at 11:57 p.m. March 1 on a charge of speeding by 16-19 mph over.

CALLS FOR SERVICE

Officer Alexis Johnson stopped to check on a driver who had pulled over to the side of the road on March 1. The driver said she was fine.

On March 1, a person reported their dog had been attacked by another dog. Officer Johnson found the other dog and put it back in the yard where it belonged. She was unable to make contact with that dog’s owner.

Assistant Chief Stetson Schwien received a call on March 1 that a woman was making threats at Liberty High School and had left to go to the administrative building. He responded and the woman was packed at a business across the street. He spoke to administrators, who said the would not let her inside, and while he was speaking to them, the woman went home. At 7:36 a.m. that day, dispatch advised an employee of the school had called to report the woman had called the employee’s personal phone and made threats that “she is not afraid to kill anyone” and if Children’s Division employees were to return to her house she would “put a bullet in them.” Schwien advised the caller that the school needed to trespass the woman from the property and file for an order of protection, and said the woman will be watched to ensure she does not act on her threats.

Assistant Chief Schwien provided a funeral escort on March 1.

On March 1, a woman went to the police department to ask for help installing a car seat. Assistant Chief Schwien helped her.

A man went to the police station March 1 to ask for a permit for an ATV. Assistant Chief Scwhien assisted him.

On March 1, Officer First Class Kylie McGee spoke to a woman with an animal complaint. The woman showed the officer pictures of a dog in her yard, and when the officer responded to her house, the dog was in the yard. McGee contacted the dog’s owner and advised tickets would be issued if the animal was out again.

Officer First Class McGee tried on March 2 to contact the owner of a vehicle with lights left on, but was unsuccessful.

On March 2, Lt. Trenton Roberts was contacted by a man who asked for an officer to be on standby while money was exchanged. The request was denied as police do not witness money transactions under the circumstances described.

Officer First Class McGee picked up some pills from the parking lot of Casey’s General Store parking lot on March 2. Testing showed they were not illicit.

On March 2, Officer First Class McGee took a report of a violation of an order of protection.

Officer First Class McGee spoke with Mercy St. Francis Hospital on March 2 regarding a missing person and how to contact ambulance dispatch.

On March 2, a man called dispatch regarding a missing firearm. Officer First Class McGee attempted unsuccessfully to find the firearm, and the man later went to the police station to let police know he had found it.

Officer Johnson conducted a traffic stop on March 3, resulting in a ticket to the driver for driving without a license.

On March 3, Officer Johnson checked on a vehicle that was on the side of the road.

Officer Johnson spoke to a family on March 3 who reported they were unable to find someone and had not had contact for a few days. She investigated and found the person was in the hospital.

On March 3, a family called saying they were unable to find their child. The child was located safely. Officer Johnson.

Lt. Roberts was contacted on March 3 by a man with questions about child custody and provided information.

On March 3, Officer First Class McGee took a report for a warrant arrest while she was trying to check on a vehicle being towed.

An elderly man went to the police station on March 4 to ask for help getting home. Officer Johnson provided a courtesy ride.

On March 4, Officer Johnson checked on a woman who was stumbling around and the woman started having a seizure. She helped stabilize the woman until an ambulance arrived.

Lt. Roberts responded to a residential alarm call on March 4, and the homeowner said everything was OK.

On March 4, Cpl. Israel Guidry spoke to a woman who said her child’s father did not return the child to her after visitation.

Cpl. Guidry responded to a call on March 4 about a person walking around and staring at the sky. He spoke to a man who was just sitting and looking at his phone.

On March 4, a caller complained to 911 about officers patrolling the area. Cpl. Guidry spoke with the person and recorded the conversation on his body camera.

Lt. Roberts was dispatched to Washington Street on March 5 for a residential alarm. The residents were not home, and the building appeared to e secure. He had previously spoken with the resident, who advised the alarm was having issues.

On March 5, Lt. Roberts responded to a home for a well-being check on a man in the front yard who was possibly intoxicated or in need of medical attention. By the time he arrived, a family member had already picked the man up.

A woman reported on March 5 that her vehicle had been hit the night before while it was at her home, and her neighbor had said she had done it, but did not give any information. Lt. Roberts spoke to the reporting party and information was given.

On March 5, Cpl. Guidry spoke to a parent of a 15-year-old girl who had sexual relations with an 18-year-old, and advised that, because of their ages and because it was consensual, there was no legal offense.

Officer Matthew Combs responded to a residence on March 6 for a call regarding water running into an apartment; it was determined to be a civil matter.

On March 6, Cpl. Guidry responded to a call regarding a person at a property from where she had previously been trespassed. She was gone when he arrived.

School Resource Officer Travis Wilbanks requested assistance with a student on March 6 and Cpl. Guidry responded.

Cpl. Guidry responded on March 6 to the cemetery for a cat in a tree. He was unable to retrieve the cat.

On March 7, Officer Combs stopped to check on a Howell County deputy who was conducting a traffic stop.

Officer Combs bonded out a person who had been arrested on a warrant on March 7.

On March 7, Officer Combs was dispatched to a home for a report that someone was trying to get in the house. He checked the area and no one was found.

Cpl. Guidry followed up on a case being worked by Assistant Chief Schwien on March 7, and spoke with a woman at the Child Advocacy Center and took information for Schwien.

On March 7, Officer Johnson assisted a motorist.
