Well over 100 customers were lined up to shop at Gordmans Thursday, the first day the store was open, at Southern Hills Shopping Center. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was held with Greater West Plains Area Chamber of Commerce members, Mayor Jack Pahlmann and local business representatives and included giveaways and promotions and the presentation of $1,000 from the retailer to the West Plains High School. The business stocks discounted brand-name apparel and home décor and business hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sundays. Store manager Brian Mertz thanked his associates for their hard work in getting the store ready for the opening and for the welcome shown by community members.
