Heart Health Awareness

In recognition of February being designated as Heart Awareness Month and in remembrance of their fallen co-worker and friend Carma Wheeler, who died one year ago from heart disease, the staff of the Howell County Health Department is encouraging area residents to educate themselves on heart disease and heart disease prevention. “Heart disease is the leading cause of death for men and women in the United States,” said Agency Director Chris Gilliam. “Every year, 1 in 4 deaths are caused by heart disease. I want to remind the community that much can be done to prevent and/or manage heart disease if individuals are willing to make healthy choices and manage their health conditions.” Front row, from left: Katey Seiber, Cheri Carda, Kathy Doss, Vanessa Doss and Jess McKee.
