COVID-19 Need-to-Know

The Howell County Health Department reported six new cases of confirmed COVID-19 Wednesday, making the county's cumulative total 144, with 20 of those considered active and two patients hospitalized.

Of the newly-identified patients, three live in the West Plains area and one each live in the areas of Willow Springs, Mtn. View and Pomona. All six cases are believed to have acquired the coronavirus through community spread, and are said to be in isolation and following public health guidance.

Officials say significant contacts to the patients have been informed, and there are no identified exposures to the general public indicated.

To date, the county has recorded two deaths attributed to COVID-19.
