Volunteers with the Ozark Christian Academy in West Plains will distribute free boxes of fresh fruit and vegetables from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesdays until June 24 in the school parking lot at 210 Allen St. The drive-thru distribution is open to everyone. The boxes are provided by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Farmers to Families Food Box Program, through food wholesaler GoFresh based in Tulsa, Okla. On the first day of distribution, held Wednesday this week, organizer Nikki Morrison said volunteers had 550 boxes filled with an assortment of fresh fruit and vegetables and 4,000 half-gallon bottles of milk, and all of it was given away. “We just want to make sure people who really need this food are able to get it,” she said. “We are also hoping to have a meat truck soon” For more information call 417-761-1296 or go to From left: OCA volunteers Hudson Cox, 11, Jenna Morrison, 14, and Jackson Cox, 14.
