Teacher of the Year

Jaclyn Brown, center, dual credit biology teacher at Liberty High School in Mtn. View, was the recipient of the 2019-2020 Mtn. View-Birch Tree District (MVBT) Teacher of the Year award, and nominated for the Southwest Regional Teacher of the Year, part of the Missouri State Teacher of the Year program granted by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Regional Professional Development Centers (RPDC). Brown was recognized for her significant contributions to updating the high school science program at Liberty High School (LHS) while simultaneously being a leader in the district’s technology upgrade and crossing cultural barriers by pioneering a new foreign exchange program at the school. She has been a teacher at LHS for four years. Along with the recognition, the RPDC also awarded her a $500 scholarship to attend the Missouri Teacher Academy for Master Teachers in the coming school year. Anyone who is interested in helping Brown with a project for her classroom can contribute to her Donors Choose campaign at www.donorschoose.org/MissKrasuski. With Brown is MVBT Superintendant Don Christensen, left, and Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Director Linda Dooling.
