The West Plains Daily Quill is a media sponsor of the upcoming West Plains Police Department banquet to raise money to help the department purchase and outfit a new K9 officer. The previous K9 officer, Tuk, was retired in April due to mobility issues. Tuk was purchased by the police department in July of 2011 at about 1 year, 4 months old and began duties in March of 2012. Tickets to the banquet, to be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the West Plains Civic Center, are $30 each or $200 for a table of eight. Savor Grill & BBQ will cater the event and Danahy Auction Service will hold a live auction for items including a family pass to Branson’s Titanic Museum and a memory booklet, baseball tickets, a float trip at Sunburst Ranch, Six Flags St. Louis tickets, a blue French bulldog puppy and gift baskets and gift certificates from area businesses. For more information follow the event page “West Plains Police Department K9 Fundraising Banquet and Auction” on Facebook or call the West Plains Police Department, 256-2244, and ask for Paul Bradshaw or Justin Brown.
