Medicaid expansion town hall

Mike Sylvester with Americans for Prosperity, left, and Gregg Pfister, right, with the Opportunities Solution Project, spoke about their opposition to expanding Medicaid in Missouri to about a dozen people during an outdoor town hall Tuesday evening in West Plains. To help make their case, Sylvester and Pfister displayed printouts of headlines from news articles, including this one from a 2019 Arkansas Business article titled “Hard Year Adds Pain for Small Hospitals in Arkansas.” Prior to the town hall, held outdoors in the East Towne Village shopping center pavilion, Rep. Robert Ross (R-142) spoke about his opposition to Amendment 2, which proposes to expand Medicaid coverage in the state. It will be on the Aug. 4 primary ballot. Ross is running in the Republican primary for the 33rd State Senate seat currently held by term-limited Sen. Mike Cunningham.
