Child Advocacy Balloon Glow

The second annual Child Advocacy Center Balloon Glow was held Saturday at the Heart of the Ozarks Fairgrounds, attended by area families. The event is a fundraiser for the Child Advocacy Center, which provides forensic investigative services to children with allegations of abuse, neglect, drug endangerment, witness to a crime and exploitation. The Child Advocacy Center South Central provided services to children from Douglas, Howell, Oregon, Ozark, Shannon, Texas and Wright counties. Sponsors were Holiday Inn Express and Suites, Community First Banking Company, The Lunch Box, West Plains Propane, Wood and Huston Bank and Family Chiropractic Center and Dr. Kathy Keith. Activities included an art contest sponsored by the West Plains Public Library, a dunk booth, live music by Brother Paint, a bounce house and slide, plus kid-friendly games and face painting. Several local food trucks were on hand for those wanting dinner or a snack. Five full-size hot air balloons from around the area were inflated by local volunteer crews, and at dusk pilots fired up the burners on the tethered aircraft to provide the “glow.” The event ended with a fireworks finale held at the fairground arena.
