Cake and ice cream

CANDIDATE KARLA ESLINGER, running for 33rd District state senator, held a cake and ice cream social from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at People’s Park pavilion off of Broadway. About 50 local civic leaders, fellow Republicans and other supporters were in attendance at about 6:30 that evening. Eslinger is the current state representative for the 155th District, which includes Douglas, Ozark and most of Taney counties. She has the endorsement of Sen. Mike Cunningham, a Republican from Rogersville who currently holds the seat but has reached his term limit. She faces Republican opponents Robert Ross and Van Kelly in the Missouri primary election, to be held Aug. 4. The 33rd District includes Howell, Oregon, Douglas, Ozark, Texas, Wright, Webster and Ripley counties.
