A 28-year-old man from West Plains is dead of injuries suffered in a traffic crash at 4:40 a.m. Saturday on ZZ Highway eight miles east of West Plains, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. more

The West Plains Model Railroad Club has its sixth annual December Display set up through Dec. 30 at the Harlin Museum, 405 Worcester St. in West Plains. There are three large setups with plenty to bring out the kid in everyone and spark the imagination. The display includes a Christmas train that runs through a snowy village, miniature scenes, movie vehicles and a motorized carnival, plus visitors may purchase tickets for a chance to win a starter train set. Hours are 2 to 6 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays and noon to 6 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays through Christmas Eve. The museum will be closed Christmas Day, but the display will be open again from noon to 5 p.m. Dec. 26 through 30. Club members promise new things to see on layouts of various sizes and scales, and visitors are invited to look for bears, a sniper and other "hidden" items located in the highly detailed landscapes. Admission is free, but donations are welcome to help pay club costs, and train-related items will be available for purchase. more
