A West Plains woman who allegedly intentionally struck her ex-husband with her vehicle has been charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault and armed criminal action, all felonies.
Karlene Kay Carson, 52, Higby Street, was arrested at 8:54 p.m. June 19 at her home and released on $15,000 bail. Earlier that day West Plains Police Officer Jacob Russo reported he was dispatched to the Snappy Mart at Junction 14 and north U.S. 63 after a call that a woman driving a black Ford F-150 was trying to run people over.
Russo was advised the truck was seen headed south on U.S. 63, and the alleged victim called dispatch saying he had been struck by Carson’s vehicle as it was backing out, knocking him off balance and causing him pain.
During the altercation, Carson had also reportedly grabbed a daughter she shares with the victim by the neck and choked her. Russo reported that he noted redness to the daughter’s neck when he arrived at the scene.
