The owner of Big Country 99 “The Rooster” radio station in Houston has died due to injuries suffered in a tractor accident at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday on Hamilton Creek Road five miles north of Cabool in Texas County.

Trooper T.L. Brown with Troop G of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Willow Springs, reported that Justin W. Dixon, 31, Houston, was not wearing a safety device when his northbound 1975 International 1466 tractor ran off the left side of the road and overturned.

Texas County Coroner Marie Lasater pronounced Dixon dead at 5:27 p.m. at the scene.

Dixon, who was cremated in accordance with his wishes, will be celebrated on Big Country 99 from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday with a tribute collection of his favorite songs played commercial free, according to Evans Funeral Home.

In addition, a memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. in the Raymondville School gym, preceded by visitation from 2 to 3:30 p.m. in the gym.

No comment was available from the radio station as of this writing.

Dixon’s death is the 11th traffic fatality in the nine-county Troop G area this year, compared to 20 in the same time frame in 2016.
