Four sworn in

Four new volunteers for 37th Judicial Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) have been sworn in by Presiding Circuit Judge Steven Privette. The volunteers completed 30 hours of training before Thursday’s ceremony and are now qualified to provide support to children who have been abused or neglected. The advocates work in coordination with the 37th Juvenile Office and Children's Division to communicate with children who are wards of the state and make recommendations to the court regarding permanency or guardianship, CASA officials explained. From left: new volunteers Alexandra Malishesk, BreAnna Lovan, Batya Emunah and Anna Carter, Judge Privette and volunteer Trudy Reed.
