AN UPHILL CLIMB

Despite the cold on Saturday morning, about 200 dedicated runners turned out to participate in the eighth annual Heart of the Ozarks half marathon and 10K fundraiser for the West Plains High School Cross Country teams. As in past years, the route took runners up the steep hill on Monks Street in West Plains. Upon reaching the top of the hill, participants were offered water or Gatorade by members of the West Plains High School Beta Club. Watch the Quill’s Sports page this week for more pictures from the event, and a list of winners.
