Samuel Martin Schroeder, 75, of Ozark, Mo., left this earth on Sunday, July 14, 2019, surrounded by his wife and children after a long battle with Parkinson’s.
Sam was born July 31, 1943, in Springfield, Mo., and married Diana Green on June 7, 1969. He received his bachelors’ degree from Drury University and after teaching at Pacific and West Plains High Schools, he joined the family business and ran Schroeder Greenhouses for many years. Sam later operated Schroeder Properties, developing and providing housing for the West Plains community. He served in many organizations including Rotary Club and Ducks Unlimited, and was elected president of the Missouri Florist Association. He was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church in West Plains.
Sam is survived by his wife Diana, and children Sonja (Marvin) Jones, Stacey (Trey) Albin, Jerry (Amanda) Schroeder, and Samantha Schroeder; grandchildren Connor, Ashley and Evan Jones; Zachary, Tyler and Taylor Albin; Paxton, Natalie and Ansley Schroeder, and loving sister Sally Vedal. He is preceded in death by his parents, Gerald Martin and Mona Pauline (Grisham) Schroeder, and brother in law Jorund Vedal.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 16 at Cantlon Otterness & Viets Funeral Home, 931 W. Main St., Buffalo, Mo. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 17, at Olive Point Church, RR1 Box 28A, Preston, Mo. Burial will follow at 11 a.m. at Bowers Chapel Cemetery, 20 Bower Road, Urbana, Mo.
