The West Plains Scorpions traveling youth soccer team competed over the weekend in The Bank of Missouri Fall Cape Classic soccer tournament in Cape Girardeau, a large regional 122 team tournament with teams competing from multiple states including Missouri, Illinois and Kentucky.  

The 13-and-younger team finished 3-1 on the weekend with its only loss coming in the championship game to Perryville. They finished the fall tournament season with a record of 10-2, with their only two losses being by a combined two goals. 

The 10-and-younger team beat Mt. Vernon, Ill., in the championship game after a 50-minute battle in the sleet, rain, mud and cold. The game then went to overtime tied at two. Forward Cameron Miller scored off a cross from midfielder Hudson Cox with 30 seconds left in the first of two overtime sessions to seal the win for the Scorpions. They finished the weekend a perfect 4-0. Their fall tournament season record was 11-2-2.
