Dakota R. Driskell, 19, West Plains, was the victim of a fatal crash that injured another West Plains teen at 1:42 a.m. Tuesday on KK Highway in Ozark County, 6 miles west of Pottersville, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Sgt. L.S. Elliott with Troop G of the patrol, Willow Springs, reported Driskell was the driver of an eastbound 2000 Dodge Dakota that ran off the road and struck a tree.

Driskell was transported by Lifecall Ambulance to Ozarks Healthcare in West Plains, where she was pronounced dead at 4:36 a.m. Tuesday by Dr. Billy Holt, the report shows.

Passenger Travis J. Grubbs, 18, reportedly suffered minor injuries and was taken by private vehicle to Ozarks Healthcare for treatment. Neither he nor Driskell were wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, according to Elliott’s report.

Driskell’s death is the 15th fatality crash for this year compared to 18 at this time last year in the nine-county Troop G area.

Elliott was assisted at the scene by Cpl. K.R. Waters with Team 3 of the patrol's Major Crash Investigation Unit.
