Two Baxter County, Ark., residents succumbed to injuries suffered in a 9:30 a.m. crash Wednesday on U.S. 62 in Carroll County, along with a third person from Poinsett County in northeast Arkansas, reports the Arkansas State Police.

Tpr. Jackson R. Little with Troop L of the state police in Lowell, Benton County, Ark., reported the three people died and four others, all residents of Arkansas, were hurt when their vehicles, traveling in opposite directions, collided.

According to the report, a 2015 Chevrolet pickup truck driven by Caleb Crow, 18, of Dallas, was headed east on U.S. 62 and traveling in the left lane, when an oncoming 2020 Chevrolet Equinox driven by Michael Weiss, 46, of Cotter, also in the left lane, crossed over the center line and into the pickup truck’s path. The fronts of both vehicles impacted in the left eastbound lane and came to a rest, Little reported.

The three dead reportedly include the driver of the Equinox and passenger Amy Weiss, 44, also of Cotter, and a passenger in the pickup truck, 20-year-old Abigail Cox of Fisher.

Crow was injured, as were three 19-year-old passengers in his vehicle: Joshua Case of Grapevine, Tiki Braner of Georgetown and Joel Tibbits of Wake Forest, the report shows; they were taken for medical treatment to White River Medical Center in Batesville, Ark., and North Arkansas Regional Medical Center in Harrison.

The fatalities mark the 276th, 277th and 278th traffic deaths statewide this year, compared to 251 in the same time frame in 2022.
