The Howell County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help with an investigation into the death of a Willow Springs woman who was hit by a train Tuesday morning in West Plains.

At about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, the sheriff’s office was notified by Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad officials that a train crew saw a person on the railroad tracks, who was subsequently hit by a moving train.

The deceased has been identified as Megan Erin Corman, 37, of Willow Springs.

The sheriff’s office said in a statement issued Friday afternoon that an initial investigation has shown Corman was laying on the tracks in the path of the oncoming train. The investigation continues and more information will be released by authorities upon the receipt of autopsy results.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information about Corman’s death is asked to call Howell County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Dylan Webb at 417-256-2544.
