The historic Avenue Theatre in West Plains announces auditions for its highly-anticipated production of "Harvey." This critically-acclaimed play is set to grace the local stage from Sept. 8 through 17.
Auditions will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on July 17 and 18 at the Avenue Theatre, a staple of the downtown West Plains arts scene, nestled among charming local shops and historic buildings. It is located at 307 Washington Ave.
The auditions are open to adults, age 18 and older, with six roles available for male performers and six for female performers. All roles, regardless of gender, require mature, dynamic acting capabilities. The Avenue Theatre encourages performers of all experience levels to try out, as the theatre is committed to diversity and inclusion in its casting.
Based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning play written by Mary Chase, "Harvey" is a charming comedy about Elwood P. Dowd, a friendly man with a very peculiar best friend — a 6-foot, 3 1/2-inch tall invisible rabbit named Harvey.
Theatre officials urge all to take advantage of the opportunity to be a part of a unique production at the Avenue.
