COVID-19 Need-to-Know Info • April 6


Six days into April, and the Howell County Health Department has not reported any new cases of coronavirus infection this month.

The milestone is made more significant as Thursday marked the first anniversary of the first case to be identified in the county. It is the first time since May six days have passed with no cases added.

The 14-day test positivity rate, using estimated numbers, is 6.4% for the county, down 4.6 percentage points for the same time frame last week.

To date, 3,722 cases have been reported, up one from this time last week; one case was tallied on Wednesday. Five cases are known to be active, and one person is hospitalized with complications.

Cases are down 88.89% over the last eight to 14 days, according to the University of Missouri dashboard for the county.

The Wright County Health Department in its most recent report issued Friday tallied seven cases of COVID-19 in the previous seven days, of which three are known to be active.

The department has give an additional 1,611 COVID-19 vaccinations, having added 348 to its total in the same time frame.

More than a quarter of Wright County residents have received shots, according to the department, which says 4,890 people, 26.72% of the county, have gotten their shots. Those numbers include those vaccinated by another agency.
