FCCLA LEGISLATIVE CAPITOL CAREER DAY

Posted

Four students from the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) were recently recognized for their achievements by Missouri Governor Mike Parson. The students attending were Marjorie Sheehan and Isabell Davis both from Willow Springs and Madilyn Harris and Sydney Roberts both from West Plains. All four students were selected by their schools and were participating in the FCCLA Legislative Shadowing Project. Representative David Evans was their trip sponsor. Among many activities that day, the students were invited to meet with the Governor in his office and were

personally invited by the Governor for a very special lunch on the Governor’s portico (porch).

The goal of FCCLA Legislative Shadowing Project includes gaining firsthand knowledge about the duties of elected officials, exploring career options within public service, developing awareness of current legislation, and increasing their awareness of state government and the political process.

Representative Evans believes the FCCLA student leaders accomplished many of their project goals in their visit to the Capitol that day, and he expects to see “great things from these ladies in the future.”
