On Tuesdays, beginning June 3, the West Plains Senior Center, 415 E. Main St., will host free fall-prevention classes for the community.
Classes will run from 1 to 3 p.m. weekly from June 3 to July 22; interested participants should sign up by May 20. Spots are limited, so early registration is encouraged.
The program is designed to emphasize practical strategies for fall management, said coordinators. Participants can expect to learn to view falls as controllable, set goals for increasing activity, make changes to reduce fall risks at home and exercise to increase strength and balance
Its intended audience is anyone concerned about falls; anyone interested in improving balance, flexibility and strength; anyone who has fallen in the past; and anyone who has restricted their own activity due to falling concerns.
