Nominations are now open for the Quill’s Best of West Plains Reader’s Choice awards.
All are invited to nominate their favorite businesses before March 30 online at westplainsdailyquill.net/bestof. Voting will begin April 1 and run through the month.
Results will be announced in June.
Colton’s Steak House & Grill owner Haley Mitchell and crew will host the restaurant’s fifth annual Colton's Day for Cystic Fibrosis from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, at 1421 Preacher Roe Blvd. in West Plains.
A portion of sales that day from dine in, carry out and curbside orders will be donated to help fund cystic fibrosis research.
“Haley and her staff do such a great job and work really hard to help us with this wonderful event,” said Cystic Fibrosis of West Plains volunteer Rick Frazier.
Cystic Fibrosis volunteers will be on hand selling tickets for the giveaway of two pistols, a Kimber 9mm and a Ruger 9mm donated by 4730 Lumber, Randy and Kelly McGinnis, and Adam and Mindy Williams.
The winning ticket will be drawn on March 15 at the 37th Annual Cystic Fibrosis Concert featuring Rodney Atkins. Concert tickets will also be available for purchase at Colton's the day of the fundraiser. “Remember to wear your purple and support Colton’s Day and Cystic Fibrosis of West Plains,” said Jessica Joice-Frazier, also with Cystic Fibrosis of West Plains. “We will be there and hope you will too.”
The Howell County Commission will meet at 10 a.m. Monday in regular session, to be held in the conference room on the second floor of the county office building, 35 Court Square in West Plains.
On the agenda is a commission order for tax assessment adjustments for the month of January.
Commissioners will also approve accounts payable that may be presented and recognize guests present.
The commission typically meets each Monday and Thursday. The public is welcome.
