Mtn. View offers brush removal

Beginning Monday, the City of Mtn. View will offer brush and limb removal. The service runs through Friday. Yard clean up needs to be set out no later than Monday, city officials said.

Leaves and grass clippings will also be picked up but must be in BioBags that can be purchased at Mtn. View City Hall, 126 Oak St.

Boards or trash are not to be mixed in with brush, which should be 10 feet or less in length and stacked parallel with the road within 5 feet of the street.

Officials reminded residents that if they live on property bordered by a state highway and city street, the brush should be placed on the side of the city street, and no brush is to be stacked in alleyways.

They also cautioned that the materials will be loaded with a grapple, so the area behind and around the brush piles should be left clear.

Tree trimmings cut by a private business should also be removed by the business. Additionally, brush and limbs may be dropped off free of charge at the city dump, open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays. To access the dump, take East James Street, continuing on through County Road 3100 and take a right on County Road 2100.

Residents asked to share storm shelter info

Officials with the Howell County Rural Fire District No. 1 and the City of Mtn. View Emergency Management Office are calling on residents of their respective service areas to share information about their storm shelters.

The information would be used following a severe storm to make sure occupants were able to exit their shelters safely, said officials.

HCRFD officials are asking patrons to provide their name, address, phone number and location of their shelters by phone at 417-257-1270 or email at hcrfd700@gmail.com. If calling, and no one answers, patrons should leave a message for a return call.

In Mtn. View, a storm shelter registration form has been created for homeowners and business owners to complete. The paper form is available at Mtn. View City Hall, 126 Oak St. Officials say they are considering digital options, as well.

Forms will be stored at the Mtn. View Fire Department with a copy in the city’s Emergency Management Office, and city officials have plans to place information on a 911 mapping system if requested by the citizen completing the form. The process is free of charge to city residents.
