The West Plains High School Lady Zizzers basketball team clinched its fourth straight district championship Tuesday night, pulling off an amazing comeback 53-40 win against the Rolla Bulldogs. In the first quarter, the Bulldogs outscored the Zizzers 19-8, and by halftime, the Zizzers trailed 29-17. When play resumed, the Zizzers came out on fire and only allowed the Bulldogs 11 points in the second half of the game. “We let them shake us up a little in the first half, and we got on our heels,” said Lady Zizzers Head Coach Scott Womack. “This group of girls never quits, and they keep finding ways to win.” The Lady Zizzers will compete in Sectionals at 5:45 p.m. Saturday at Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar. Students who would like to ride the pep bus and attend the game should sign up by noon at the West Plains High School front office; the school is covering the cost of admission and students will only need money for concessions. The bus will live at about 2 p.m. Friday and return at about 9 p.m. For those in the community who would like to attend, tickets must be purchased at mshsaa.org.
