Lady Zizzers are Final Four bound

Posted

The West Plains High School Lady Zizzers secured the spot in the state Final Four Saturday when they defeated Carl Junction 55-46.

“I have to commend the girls for they hard work this year. They have done a great job of keeping their head in the game and doing what they’ve had to get to this point,” said Head Coach Scott Womack. “They get excited when they win, of course, but they go right back to focusing on what they have to do next to keep it going.

It was a hard fought win, and at halftime the Zizzers trailed 27-25.

Carl Junction’s leading scorer, Destiny Buerge, was allowed 18 points in the first half, but in the second half, the Zizzers managed to hold her to just 6.

Ashton “Double-Double” Judd put another on the books with 27 points and 15 rebounds. Olivia Lawson had 9, Georgia Osborn had 8, Zoey Williams had 5, Allyssa Joyner had 4, and Kaylea Dixon had 2.

The Lady Zizzers will face Smithville at noon Friday at MSU in Springfield. The winner of that game will advance to the State Championship at noon on Saturday.  The loser of Friday's game will advance to play at 10 a.m. Saturday for third place.
