An Arkansas man is dead and another seriously injured as the result of a rollover crash that happened at 12:28 a.m. Sunday on Highway 142, 7 miles northwest of Myrtle in Oregon County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol atrol.
Tpr. C.C. Battreal with Troop G of the patrol, Willow Springs, reported a westbound 2013 Dodge Ram driven by a 54-year-old man from Thayer ran off the road and overturned, partially ejecting a 25-year-old passenger from Mammoth Spring, Ark.
The report shows neither man was wearing s seat belt at the time of the accident, and the 25-year-old was pronounced dead at 1:45 a.m. at the scene by Oregon County Coroner Tom Clary. The driver was transported to Ozarks Healthcare in West Plains for treatment, according to the patrol.
The patrol no longer releases the names of those involved in injury accidents because of concerns over use of that information in scams.
The younger man’s death marks the 23rd fatality in 2024 in the nine-county Troop G area, compared to 33 at this time last year.
