A 69-year-old man drowned after falling into Jacks Fork River on Thursday afternoon at Alley Springs Campground, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
Msgt. B.D. Foster with Troop G of the patrol, Willow Springs, reported the man, a resident of Eminence, fell into the water at 1:36 p.m., was unable to resurface and was swept downstream by the current.
Shannon County Deputy Coroner Alan Ford pronounced the man dead at 2:30 p.m. at the scene.
It is the third drowning this year in the nine-county Troop G area, compared to one in the same time frame in 2024.
The patrol no longer identifies crash victims in its public reports, citing the possibility the information could be used to perpetrate scams against victims.
