Texas County Memorial Hospital has named Mariah Thompson of Cabool the June employee of the month.
Thompson works as a pharmacy tech in the hospital pharmacy. She has been employed at TCMH for seven years. Jessica Gettys, pharmacist, nominated Thompson for the award.
“Mariah is one of the hardest working individuals I have ever had the pleasure of working alongside,” Gettys said. “She is dependable, consistent and very skilled at what she does.”
Gettys explained that Thompson is responsible for all aspects of inventory management within the department. She consistently rotates stock to make sure items are not outdated and manages backorders to ensure the hospital does not run out of crucial medications. Thompson works with our outlying clinics, hospice, and inpatient departments to fulfill orders, and coordinates the acquisition of specialty medications for our outpatient infusions.
Gettys noted that Thompson took the lead this year and enrolled in a program that will provide additional training for the 340B program. This program is crucial for smaller hospitals, as it allows TCMH to expand services provided to patients within the community.
There are many complex regulations required for program participation, along with heavy penalties for non-compliance.
“Mariah currently assists with our quarterly audit of the program,” Gettys said. “She works tirelessly to make certain the hospital maintains its compliance.”
Gettys mentioned that Thompson’s willingness to embrace new challenges and add to her ever-growing list of responsibilities is impressive.
She added that if there was one word to describe Mariah it would be efficient.
As employee of the month, Thompson received a certificate honoring her achievement; a pin; a special parking place in the TCMH lot; one day of paid vacation; a $50 gift card, and gift certificates to Paws N Claws, D&L Florist, Wehr Motors, Savor Grill and Big Red Car Wash. A reception will be held in her department to honor Thompson.
Thompson is eligible for the 2021 TCMH employee of the year award.
