West Plains resident and poll worker Cynthia Ross fills out her ballot Tuesday afternoon at the Missouri National Guard Armory in West Plains. Poll workers at the Armory said turnout was slow. When Ross submitted her ballot at around 1 p.m., hers was the 63rd to be cast. All voters in Howell County had the opportunity to weigh in on whether to extend the half-cent sales tax until 2029 to fund the Road and Bridges Department. West Plains voters chose between re-electing West Plains Mayor Pro Tem Mike Topliff or giving his council seat to challenger Donald McClellan for a four-year term. In Mtn. View, voters made their voices known in a four-way race for West Ward Alderman and regarding a half-cent sales tax for parks and recreation, while voters in the Mtn.View-Birch Tree School District chose two board members from among three candidates.
