The West Plains Optimist Club deadline for scholarship applications from area students is approaching.
The Optimist Club is accepting applications from students for the club’s Mighty Mite Football scholarship, Mighty Mite Cheerleading scholarship, T-Ball scholarship and General Optimist Club scholarship.
The general scholarship is open to all area high school seniors who will be attending college.
The Mighty Mite Football, Mighty Mite Cheerleading and T-Ball scholarships are open to area students who have participated in one of the programs for at least one year.
West Plains Optimist Club will give out $1,200 scholarships to select students who complete and return an application for one of the club’s scholarships.
Students must complete and return their application to West Plains Optimist Club member Cheryl Finley no later than April 15.
Students can email applications to cheryl.finley@westplainsbank.com, mail an application to P.O. Box 873, West Plains, Missouri 65775, or deliver an application to Finley at West Plains Bank and Trust Company’s main bank located in downtown West Plains, at 11 Court Square.
The West Plains Optimist Club has scholarship applications available for students online at www.wpoptimist.org/scholarships.html.
"The last two years have been slow with things being shut down, so this year we are really excited to get back out there and get all of our programs back up and running again," Finley said. “We feel like we do a lot for the children when they are little, and this is just a way we can continue and help promote their education by doing the scholarships and following through with that."
