Police: Thayer Ave. drug raid leads to five arrests

Late Thursday night, West Plains law enforcement officials conducted a drug raid on Thayer Avenue that resulted in the arrests of five people.

In statement released at about 11:45 p.m. Thursday, West Plains Police lt. Kyle Ellison reported officers with the West Plains Strategic Response Team and the South Central Drug Task Force carried out a drug-related search warrant at a home on the 400 block of Thayer Avenue. In the course of searching the home, Ellison said, officers found and seized multiple suspected fentanyl capsules, meth and drug paraphernalia.

Five adults were arrested on charges of distribution or deliver of a controlled substance, felony possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and maintaining a public nuisance, the lieutenant reported, and all were taken to the police station to await formal charges. As of press time Friday, charges were not yet filed.
