The West Plains R-7 School Board of Education will meet today, beginning with a closed session at 5 p.m., followed by an open session at 6.
The closed session will deal with matters pertaining to legal issues, real estate, personnel and student issues.

The consent agenda up for approval at the top of the open session includes approval of previous meeting minutes, public law 94-142 Child Find pertaining to special education, an Applied Behavior Analysis contract with Anitia Nelson in the early childhood special education program, a contract with Ronald McDonald Tooth Truck, an agreement with Ozarks Healthcare for school-based behavioral services, and resignations, hires and transfers. A monthly finance report will also be included.
The regular agenda will include payment of bills, one of which is expected to be due to Buro office supply store, and updates to previous business items pertaining to the Comprehensive School Improvement Plain and Missouri School Board Association policies. Also under old business, 2023-24 salary schedules will be up for approval, as will the budget for that time period.
New business items include the designation of Dr. Amy Ross as the contact for migrant students and students in the English as a Second Language program; of Matt Orchard as safety director, foster liaison and Title IX director; and of Charolette Johnson as the contact for homeless student families.
The 2022-23 budget will be up compared to the actual audited budget and up for board approval. Breakfast and lunch prices will be established for the upcoming school year, a school bus bid will be considered for approval and the board will vote on whether to set the date for the annual tax rate hearing for Aug. 8.
Reports will be given from all district buildings; public relations and communications; the academic and curriculum director; facility, human resources, security and special education departments; federal programs including Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief funding as well as early learning and special education; and superintendents.
The board will return to closed session if there is unfinished business from earlier to conclude.
The next board meeting will be a July 11 workshop session.
