The West Plains R-7 School Board is holding a workshop beginning at 8 a.m. today with a closed session, and opening to the public at 8:30 a.m. Community members can tune into a livestream via Zoom Meeting ID 915 9612 8836, passcode 199334.
Items on the agenda for the closed session include matters pertaining to legal issues, real estate, personnel and students.
In closed session, following the approval of the consent agenda which will include previous meeting minutes, a monthly finance report, resignation requests, and employment and transfer requests, a board member training will be provided by the Missouri School Board Association.
Updates and reports will be given by Curriculum Director Dr. Tiffany Young regarding assessments; Human Resources Director Matthew Orchard on facilities, safety, staffing and health insurance; Assistant Superintendent Dr. Amy Ross on the Missouri Reading Initiative and legislation regarding literacy; and Superintendent Dr. Wesley Davis, updating the board on district finances.
Open session will then adjourn, and closed session will resume if necessary to complete any unfinished business from the earlier portion of the session.
The next school board meeting is scheduled for Aug. 8. The board typically meets on the second Tuesday of each month.
