Rotary Backpack Program receives generous donation

Posted

Wiley Insurance Agency, LLC, chose the Rotary Backpack Program in West Plains, in honor of Tom Smith, as the recipient of $1,000 provided through the MO Farm and Home Bluebird Project. The Bluebird Project is designed to assist charitable organizations that provide basic support and help for the basic needs of Missouri’s children. Wiley Insurance Agency, LLC was allotted the $1,000 to give to the children at risk in their community through the generous Bluebird Project program.
Traci Wiley, owner of Wiley Insurance Agency, LLC, chose the Rotary Backpack Program in West Plains, because of an article she read about the Annual Tom Smith Spring Golf Classic which benefits the Rotary Backpack Program. The West Plains Rotary Backpack Program serves area elementary age kids by sending a pack of food home each weekend to help kids who might not have enough food at home. The Rotary Backpack Program has grown every year, now reaching more than 100 backpacks issued every week that school is in session, as well as extra food for school breaks. The program focuses on need at the elementary level, and currently serves 6 area schools. Traci stated, “this was very fitting as Tom was one of our favorite local bankers and mutual customer through Wiley Insurance to Mo Farm and Home. Tom would always call the office and jokingly say ‘this is your favorite pain of a customer’. He always made your day anytime you saw him. We miss him greatly and thought this would be a great thing to do in his honor.”
