Board members of the Heart of the Ozarks United Way, the Missouri State University – West Plains (MSU-WP) Staff Senate, friends of the Sadie Brown Cemetery, and other citizen volunteers gathered Saturday to participate in the United Way’s Day of Caring to plant a memorial tree, clean headstones, and hear the results of testing conducted by the Missouri State University (MSU) Center for Archeological Research in the search for unmarked graves. About 33 workers participated, ranging in age from five to 78 years, and some who have family members buried there.
