Texas County Memorial Hospital will host a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 16. The Community Blood Center of the Ozark will collect blood donations in the Jayson Gentry Community Safe Room on the TCMH campus, 1333 S. Sam Houston Blvd. in Houston.
TCMH receives all of its blood supply from CBCO, said drive organizers, adding all blood collected by CBCO stays in the area and will be used by Ozark communities, neighbors and families.
CBCO serves TCMH and 43 other hospitals in 40 counties. About 250 blood units are needed daily, and TCMH uses about 400 units yearly, said officials.
Eligible donors can be anyone 16 years old or older who weighs at least 110 pounds and has not been given blood in the last 56 days. Minor donors must have parental permission. All donors must provide photo identification when registering to donate.
Donors participating in the blood drive will receive a free premium baseball T-shirt and a voucher for two free general admission tickets to one Springfield Cardinals home game between June 1 and Aug. 31, with the exception of July 4, while supplies last.
Appointments are not required; however, they are strongly encouraged to manage donor flow. To schedule an appointment, call CBCO at 417-227-5006 or go to www.cbco.org/donate-blood.
