A late-night crash on Saturday in Douglas County claimed the life of a 25-year-old motorcyclist from Hartville in Wright County.
Tpr. D.L. Nash with Troop G of the patrol, Willow Springs, reported that at 11:30 p.m. Saturday, a 2009 Harley-Davidson driven east on Highway 14 by Ian A. Hogan crossed the center line, skidded, overturned and struck the ground, causing Hogan to be thrown from it. The crash occurred a mile west of Sweden in Douglas County or about 0.7 miles northwest of P Highway, according to the report.
Hogan was wearing a helmet and his remains taken to Clinkingbeard Funeral Home in Ava, Nash reported.
Trooper R.D. Crewse assisted Nash at the scene.
Hogan’s death marks the 16th traffic fatality for 2023 in the nine-county Troop G area, compared to 14 at this time last year.
The 15th fatality also occurred Saturday, when a St. Louis-area man’s vehicle ran off the road near Centerville in Reynolds County.
Tpr. K.H. Hall reported Charles A. Larson, 58, De Soto, was not wearing a seat belt when his northbound 2003 Ford Explorer Sport Trac SUV ran off the right side of Highway 21, returned to the road and ran off the left side of the road, where it overturned. The crash happened at 4:05 p.m. on Highway 21 about 4 miles south of Centerville, the trooper reported.
Randy Buxton with the Reynolds County Coroner’s Office pronounced Larson dead at 5:20 p.m., the report shows.
