The Heart of the Ozarks United Way has rescheduled its third annual charity golf tournament to Aug. 18.
The tournament, which was planned to be held last Friday, was postponed due to rain. As a result, entry remains open for teams that have not yet signed up.
Registration for the tournament will begin at 11 a.m. the day of the event at the West Plains Country Club golf course, with a shotgun start at 1 p.m.
Funds raised through the two-person scramble event go toward supporting 11 local nonprofit organizations, said local United Way Director Stacy Tintocalis.
Beginning at 11 a.m. and lasting through the event, a deluxe nacho bar lunch will be included with each player’s registration with pulled pork, ground beef and “all the fixings” for nachos, she said, adding Great Rivers Distributing is donating two beer tickets per golfer.
Teams will compete to win three sets of flight prizes and seven hole-game prizes. Each hole-game winner will receive two $50 gift cards from Sugar Lily Bakery & Floral, KC’s Sports Bistro, Oasis II Bar & Grill, Hibby’s Sports Grille, Colton’s Steakhouse, Ruby Tuesday, Steak ’n’ Shake, Pizza Shack, Hirsch Feed and Farm Supply, El Charro or Ozarks Healthcare Coffee Shop.
Winners of a 50/50 giveaway drawing and a $600 travel package giveaway will be called at the end of the tournament.
Community First Banking Company is the title sponsor of the tournament.
Teams may sign up by emailing uwayhoo@gmail.com or calling 417-257-7184. Teams may also sign up at the West Plains Country Club Pro Shop or by showing up before 1 p.m. on the day of the tournament.
The cost for each player is $125, with a discounted rate of $100 per player for senior citizens, military and first responders.
Hole sponsors can support local nonprofits by paying $125 for hole signs, noted Tintocalis. Teams and hole sponsorships are tax deductible.
