U.S. 160/Independence Drive in West Plains will be closed for about a year beginning Nov. 11 as contractor crews construct a new bridge over the BNSF railroad.
The closure will be from Business U.S. 63/Porter Wagoner Boulevard to St. Louis Street.
The project is anticipated to be complete on Nov. 19, 2025 and the closure will remain in place 24 hours a day until the work is completed, said Missouri Department of Transportation officials.
A signed detour route will be in place. Drivers will take Porter Wagoner Boulevard to Missouri Avenue, turn east on Thornburgh Street to St. Louis Street, and continue to U.S. 160. Airport Road will not be impacted on the east side of the railroad at this time, officials noted.
The work zone will be marked with signs. Motorists are urged to use extreme caution while traveling near the area.
