The West Plains R-7 School Board will meet today for a closed session at 5 p.m. in the high school library, where members will approve the agenda and discuss legal and personnel matters.
Board members will convene the open session at 6 p.m. and approve the minutes from last month’s meeting and the monthly finance report, then vote to remove Dr. Lori Wilson and Dr. Luke Boyer and add Dr. Amy Ross as the signer on banking accounts.
Wilson will end her duties as West Plains R-7 superintendent and take on the role of interim assistant superintendent for Ozark Schools on July 1; Boyer was named superintendent of Laclede County Schools last July.
Board members are also expected to approve resignations, year-end reports and other bookkeeping procedures to follow budgetary laws. Board members will also authorize officials to sign reports and approve an assurance statement.
The board will then hear recommendations from the superintendent to employ specific individuals.
The regular agenda includes payment of bills and payment of BURO invoices and an update on the West Plains School District Safe Return to In-Person Instruction and Continuity of Services Plan.
A second reading to set the tuition rates for the upcoming school year at West Plains School District and South Central Career Center is planned, as is a second reading to approve the 2022-23 budget.
New business for consideration includes discussion on salary schedules, an annual audit set for Aug. 15 through 19, the 2021-22 budget audit, and the designation of Amy Ross as English as a second language contact and Matt Orchard as homeless, migrant and safety student contact.
Updates on academics, facilities and capital projects and administrative and superintendent reports will also be given.
The board will then adjourn from the open session and move to a closed session if necessary.
The West Plains Board of Education typically meets in the high school library on the last Tuesday of every month.
